Ben Coffey Clark Talks Digital Strategy in Local Politics

Ben Coffey Clark, joined Manoush Zomorodi, the host of the New Tech City program on WNYC, to discuss digital campaign strategy in local politics and how 2012 has prepared us for future campaigns last week.

On why it is important for politicians to start early with online tools Clark said, “If you can start to build a relationship now online — maybe have people sign up for your email address, maybe have a website that communicates your positions, talk to people on social media even before you advertise — you’re going to be able to reap benefits later when it’s more intense and we’re right before the election and people care the most.”

On upcoming trends in digital he said, “In the next cycle, I think it’s going to be mobile…In the same way that the tech and Silicon Valley sector sees a trend in mobile growth, that’s a great way they can help politics, to help them figure out the world of mobile as more and more people use smart phones.”
